New funding from the Canadian government is proving that, for British Columbia’s aerospace research sector, the sky is no longer the limit.
The investment was announced during the Aersoapce, Defence & Security Expo (ADSE) in Abbostford, BC. Jay Teichroeb, the Vice President of AIAC Pacific, announced the news to the delight of the attending 170 companies and 400 participants.
“BC’s aerospace industry shows strong potential to continue growing as a driver of our economy,” he said.
Recent studies have shown that the industry provides jobs to approximately 8,300 British Columbians and generates $2.4 billion annually.
The $7.3 million will be divided between five of the province’s ongoing research projects. The projects led by Waterfall Group, Nebula UAV Systems, and NORAM Engineering and Constructors are focused on green aviation technology. The remaining two projects – backed by Asco Aerospace, Avcorp Industries, Conair Group and Convergent Manufacturing Technologies – are testing aircraft design and measuring pilot fatigue.
