About 200 members from industry, government, and military attended Vanguard’s seventh annual ShipTech Forum on February 25, 2020, in Ottawa. As one of the premier events for the shipbuilding and marine industries, ShipTech Forum provides a platform for different stakeholders to meet and share knowledge.
“This yearly gathering helps to facilitate the sharing of knowledge and lessons learned from a technological perspective to showcase successful investments in cutting-edge technologies for the shipbuilding and marine industries,” said Terri Pavelic, Editor-in-Chief of Vanguard. “Our 2020 conference continued to build on that premise.”
Participants had the opportunity to listen and network with many leaders from industry and government about pressing matters regarding the Arctic, vessel performance, icebreaking, Canadian innovations and the climate crisis.
Keynote messages were delivered by Mario Pelletier, Commissioner of the Canadian Coast Guard and Ravi Kumar, Senior Naval Architect at Lloyd’s Register Applied Technology Group.
A new addition to this year’s ShipTech Forum was the Innovation Showcase where 15 tech companies with niche solutions for the shipbuilding and marine sectors were given 15-minute segments to present and demo their solutions to attendees. The presentations covered a range of topics including UAS, advanced hull monitoring solutions, remote sensing technology, better data, AI, and digital twin, to name a few.
Over the next few months, we will share videos and articles on the event. In the meantime, please take a moment to enjoy a slideshow of ShipTech Forum 2020.
