A major change in leadership took place at the Canadian Joint Operations Command (CJOC) on July 8, 2024. Lieutenant-General Steve Boivin officially took the reins from Vice-Admiral Bob Auchterlonie in a ceremonial event held at His Majesty’s Canadian Ship Carleton. CJOC plays a crucial role within the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF), overseeing the planning, execution, support, and command of Canadian military operations both domestically and internationally. This command ensures that Canada’s military actions are coordinated and effective across the globe.

“My appointment as Commander of Canadian Joint Operations Command (CJOC) is an honour. I would like to thank the Minister of National Defence and Chief of Defence Staff for their confidence, and Vice-Admiral Auchterlonie for leaving things in such good stead.
