Calian Group Ltd., a multifaceted products and services corporation specializing in healthcare, communications, learning, and cybersecurity solutions, has secured a substantial contract valued at potentially $90 million. The agreement, forged with General Dynamics Mission Systems–Canada (GDMS-C), is poised to fortify the capabilities of the Canadian Army through cutting-edge land command, control, communications, computers, intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (C4ISR) systems. Spanning six years, this contract encompasses crucial IT and software development services, signifying a momentous stride in fortifying Canada’s defense infrastructure.

Under this agreement, Calian will furnish a spectrum of IT and technical software services, thereby reinforcing its alliance with both General Dynamics and the Department of National Defence (DND). GDMS-C specializes in providing C4ISR systems, pivotal in furnishing the Canadian Army with enhanced capabilities to safeguard its communication and information systems, while concurrently spearheading the development of technologies that hold significant economic implications for Canada.

“We are excited to continue our partnership with GDMS-C in support of the Canadian Army,” says Kevin Ford, CEO, Calian. “Calian continues to invest in leading-edge technologies and expertise that will support these critical systems when they cannot afford to fail. It also reinforces our commitment to the women and men of the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF). From their training to operational readiness, Calian is in their corner.”

This contract builds upon Calian’s prior collaboration with GDMS-C in supporting C4ISR systems through a preceding five-year contract spanning from 2019 to 2024. By embarking on this new contract, Calian underscores its steadfast commitment to bolstering the growth trajectory of its IT and Cyber Solutions (ITCS) division, all the while consolidating its strategic partnership with the DND.

“For over 40 years, Calian has delivered confidence to military customers,” says Michael Tremblay, ITCS President, Calian. “Our team keeps a forward focus to anticipate their evolving needs and remains at the forefront of this critical technology. We’re proud to continue to support Canadian soldiers both at home and abroad.”

Furthermore, Calian remains dedicated to fulfilling the economic development prerequisites outlined in the Government of Canada’s Industrial and Technological Benefits (ITB) and Indigenous Participation Plan (IPP) programs. As a subcontractor to GDMS-C for the Land C4ISR program, Calian will continue to contribute towards these initiatives.

With an extensive track record in delivering services and solutions across a diverse spectrum of defense and space programs—ranging from healthcare provisions to military training to satellite engineering—Calian remains steadfast in its commitment to advancing technological frontiers.
