Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced on September 22nd four changes in the senior ranks within the Public Service.

Jody Thomas

Jody Thomas, who was the Commissioner of the Canadian Coast Guard, Fisheries and Oceans Canada during the period 2015 to 2017; and was in March of this year appointed Senior Associate Deputy Minister, National Defence, will be become Deputy Minister of National Defence.

Bill Matthews

Bill Matthews, who currently serves as Comptroller General of Canada will move to Senior Associate Deputy Minister of National Defence. Moving into the position of Comptroller General of Canada will be Roch Huppé, who is currently the Chief Financial Officer and Assistant Commissioner at Canada Revenue Agency.

The last announced change is Gordon Venner who is currently the Assistant Deputy Minister (Policy), National Defence. He will move into the position of Associate Deputy Minister of National Defence.

These changes will take effect on October 23rd.

Mr. Trudeau extended congratulations to John Forster, Deputy Minister of National Defence, and Gavin Liddy, Senior Advisor to the Privy Council Office, on their retirement from the Public Service.
