Public Works and Government Services Canada has restarted the Integrated Soldier System Project (ISSP). On Tuesday, department officials held a consultation day with industry in preparation to launch a new Request for Proposals for the ISSP procurement in April. In February, a draft RFP was provided to interested companies.
The ISSP solicitation, which includes an integrated suite of weapon accessories, electronic devices, sensors, individual equipment and operational clothing, was announced in February 2012 and the RFP closed in June. However, on January 25 of this year, the government cancelled the project, saying all bids were non-compliant. The government had tested the various equipment suites at CFB Petawawa in the Fall.
The ISSP is intended to help soldiers seamlessly share data and voice communications with low-level command centres through a network, improving situational awareness, real-time tactical information and greater synchronization of activity.
