Cassidian Communications is expanding its footprint in the National Capital Region. The EADS subsidiary, which recently moved to a new 53,170-square-foot facility in Gatineau, announced last week that the location would now include R&D resources for the company’s Land Mobile Radio division.

Cassidian Communications provides solutions for NG9-1-1 call taking, emergency notification and LMR. The workforce expansion along with the new facility allows the company to provide LMR maintenance, support, integration and validation functions in one location. The new facility houses 145 employees.

“By growing our operations in Gatineau, Cassidian Communications is reinforcing our commitment both to the region and to developing quality, life-saving technology for our customers in Canada and the U.S.,” said François Begaud, chief operating officer for Land Mobile Radio.

Cassidian Communications’ P25 LMR systems are robust radio networks used daily by police, fire and other first responders to communicate with each other and public safety officials coordinating emergency responses. Among other organizations across Canada, the P25 LMR technology is used by the RCMP’s “O” Division, which serves Ontario.
