Thales has been chosen as a key subcontractor for General Dynamics Mission Systems–Canada (GDMS-C), contributing to the Canadian Army’s Land Command Support System (LCSS). This collaboration is set to bring new capabilities to the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF), playing a pivotal role in their mission success.

Under this partnership, Thales Canada has secured multiple sub-contracts from GDMS-C for the Department of National Defence (DND) and the CAF’s advanced C4ISR system—encompassing Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance.

These sub-contracts are essential for the long-term maintenance and enhancement of the Canadian Army’s LCSS, which is structured into four main programs: Core Networks; System of Systems Engineering and Integration; Intelligence, Surveillance, Target Acquisition, and Reconnaissance; and Applications. These programs collectively ensure the delivery of cutting-edge capabilities and support the continuous development of an integrated command and control communications system, crucial for the Army’s operational success both domestically and internationally.

Through this initiative, Thales will reinforce its dedication to innovation within key Canadian industrial sectors. This effort will involve collaboration with Indigenous businesses, start-ups, academic institutions, innovation superclusters, and small to medium-sized enterprises. Additionally, Thales will leverage its distinctive Canadian innovation platforms, including AI@Centech, SYNERGY, and the newly established National Digital Excellence Centre, to further drive this mission forward.

“We are motivated to leverage Thales’ unique strengths and expertise in C4ISR to further enable the Army’s digital transformation. Collaborating to better serve those who serve is core to our purpose at Thales in Canada, and we look forward to being part of a team that will innovate and deliver trusted capability and superior performance to the Canadian Armed Forces,” expressed Ian Krepps, Vice-President, Business Development & Growth, Thales Canada.
