In her address to GTEC last fall, Corinne Charette, CIO for the government of Canada, laid out the elements of an IT strategy, discussing greater use of mobility, cloud computing, open data, identity management and the transformation of service delivery. She even raised the notion of a government app store.
The goal, she said, was to make “the e-service channel…the destination of default.” In all, it is an aggressive modernization effort with a horizon in this decade that will require significant collaboration with industry.
Charette will be discussing further the governments strategy and the changes required to ensure success during a keynote address at Leadership Summit 2013: Leading Management Change in the Canadian Public Sector, April 4 in Ottawa: http://cgeleadershipsummit.ca/
