One military officer faces sexual assault charges while a sergeant is being charged with possession of child pornography.
The Canadian Forces National Investigation Service charged a military member of 5th Canadian Division Support Group based in Gagetown, N.B., with two counts under the National Defence Act in relation to accessing child pornography. The sergeant was identified by the NIS as Sgt. Brent Douglas Hansen.
Hansen faces the following charges:

- one count of Conduct to the Prejudice of Good Order and Discipline, punishable under section 129 of the National Defence Act.
The charges relate to reported accessing of child pornography while the accused was on duty at 5th Canadian Division Support Base Gagetown between June 26, 2014 and September 22, 2014.
Capt. Simon Duvall has also been charged with sexual assault in connection with an assault at the 5th Canadian Division Support Base near Oromocto in December 2010 or January 2011m, according to a report from the Canadian Press.
The charge against Duvall reflects the Forces’ support for victims against “harmful and inappropriate sexual behaviour” in the military, said Lt.-Col. Francis Bolduc, the investigation service’s commander.
