DAVWIRE of London, Ontario, has acuired the manufacturing division of St. John’s-based Rutter.
The deal closed at the end of September following a month of site visits by DAVWIRE personnel.
“We’re very excited about this step forward for DAVWIRE and its employees,” said Mark MacKenzie, who has grown DAVWIRE since its inception in 2003. “I believe that we are now better positioned to provide additional service to our existing customer base and grow our base with some of the industry’s key OEM’s and 1st tiers.”
In a press release, DAVWIRE said that Southwestern Ontario is well positioned for “some of the activity that has been going on with Canada’s National Shipbuilding Procurement Strategy as well as the initiative of the new Defence Procurement Strategy. We know that the aviation manufacturers are continuing to forecast strong growth for transport category aircraft and the larger business jets. This new addition of box build capability will be a strong offering to this market as well as the defense industry.”
The company has beem bringing current employees and new hires up to speed on its business processes and has begun renovations to the St. John’s facility to “accommodate some of the new work.”
