In a move that underscores Canada’s growing focus on advanced naval support technologies, BluMetric Environmental Inc. has announced a landmark contract with Thales Canada to upgrade the water systems aboard Royal Canadian Navy vessels. The agreement, valued at CA$3.8 million, will see BluMetric’s WaterTech Canada division in Carp, Ontario, lead the design, validation, and implementation of enhanced potable water systems for the fleet.
“We are proud to launch this new product with our defence partner, Thales Canada, for the Royal Canadian Navy,” said Scott MacFabe, Chair and CEO of BluMetric. “This new shipboard solution will improve the existing quality of potable water on the RCN’s ships and increase the lifespan of the associated onboard distribution systems. There is no successful mission without water, and our Mission Ready Water solutions continue to meet the ever evolving and challenging water demands of the Canadian military.”
The project aims to elevate the quality of shipboard water chemistry while extending the operational lifespan of critical distribution systems. With delivery and commissioning slated over the next eighteen months, the initiative reflects both the RCN’s commitment to crew safety and the increasing reliance on cutting-edge environmental engineering solutions to support military readiness.
BluMetric’s expertise in WaterTech and full-service environmental consulting positions the company at the forefront of innovative naval support systems. By combining precision engineering with rigorous validation processes, the firm is set to provide the RCN with resilient, high-quality water infrastructure capable of meeting the demands of modern maritime operations.
As the collaboration with Thales Canada unfolds, this contract not only strengthens domestic capabilities in military water technologies but also highlights the strategic role of Canadian engineering firms in supporting national defence priorities.
