FLYHT to provide AFIRS 228 for Middle East country’s C-130s

Calgary-based FLYHT Aerospace Solutions will supply an undisclosed avionics integrator with seven AFIRS 228 (Automated Flight Information Reporting System) for the Lockheed Martin C-130 Hercules aircraft owned and operated by the air force of a middle-eastern country. FLYHT says this is the second air force in the region to adopt AFIRS as part of an avionics modernization program.

The hardware portion of the contract is valued at over US$250,000 and the company will negotiate an ongoing service agreement prior to delivery of the upgraded aircraft.

With more than 2,400 C-130 aircraft delivered globally and and a majority in need of avionics upgrades in the next few years, FLYHT is eyeing significant future business. “We are excited to continue our success in the global C-130 upgrade programs and look forward to supplying the major global avionics integrators with the many benefits AFIRS 228 provides,” said Bill Tempany, the company’s president and CEO.
