Atlas to help take Ultra global

Victoria, B.C.’s Atlas Elektronik Canada has awarded Ultra Electronics Maritime Systems of Dartmouth, N.S., a $1 million multi-year contract to supply sonar technology that will be integrated into Atlas’ advanced low frequency active sonars, which have naval customers world-wide. Under the deal, Ultra will deliver high power, low frequency acoustic projectors.

“To be selected by Atlas, a world leader in advanced sonar systems, is a testament to the quality, reliability and high performance of our sonar technology,” said Ken Walker, president of Ultra Electronics Maritime Systems.

Rick Gerbrecht, president and CEO of Atlas Elektronik Canada said the deal fits within the company’s efforts to support the government’s new defence procurement strategy. “The introduction of Ultra into Atlas’ global supply chain signifies our commitment to perform more high quality work in Canada as we grow our business with Canadian customers.”
