Last week at the Paris Air Show, Burlington-based L-3 WESCAM confirmed that Airbus Helicopters had selected two products from its MX-Series line of electro-optical and infrared (EO/IR) systems for the targeting systems on the Airbus Generic Weapon Systems (GWS) program.
The MX-10D and MX-15D are part of a package of modernized systems for Airbus’ H225M and H145M helicopters to support anti-submarine warfare, tactical troop transport, search-andrescue, medical evacuation and special operations.
“Our MX systems are commercial-off-the-shelf products designed with superior stabilization, high-magnification optics and advanced GEO-location technologies,” said Paul Jennison, vice president of government sales and business development for L-3 WESCAM. “We are very proud to supply Airbus Helicopters with targeting solutions that can be delivered on a short timeline, complete with all the technologies required to fulfill varying mission profiles.”
L-3 WESCAM’s targeting systems have been proven in combat and are configured with high-sensitivity multi-spectral sensors for day, low-light and night time missions.
To date, L-3 WESCAM has delivered over 530 of the MX targeting systems for 40 different airborne platforms since the company entered the targeting market in 2005.
