Tony March appointed as Chief Executive Officer of Babcock Canada.

Babcock International Group, a leading company in defence and security, has announced that Tony March will step into the role of Chief Executive Officer at Babcock Canada. His appointment becomes effective on March 3, 2025, as he takes over from Jerry McLean, who is set to retire.

“I’m delighted to appoint Tony March as Babcock Canada’s new CEO. His experience and expertise will be invaluable as we focus on further developing our business in Canada where we see significant opportunities for growth,” expressed David Lockwood, Bacock CEO.

“I would also like to thank Jerry McLean for his many years of service, and wish him a very happy retirement,” he continued.

Babcock views Canada as an essential component of its global expansion strategy, playing a key role in sustaining the country’s submarine fleet, operating aerial firefighting services in Manitoba, and launching new air ambulance operations in British Columbia. Tony March will oversee these vital functions while also seeking new avenues for growth.

Having joined Babcock Canada in June 2018 as Director of Engineering, March later advanced to Vice President of Engineering in January 2020. Most recently, in January 2024, he assumed leadership of the Marine and Mission Systems division in Canada. His career began with 21 years of service in the Royal Canadian Navy as a Naval Technical Officer, where he worked aboard naval ships and submarines before transitioning to the private sector.

March’s academic background is extensive, holding a Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering and a Master of Defence Studies from the Royal Military College of Canada. He also earned a Master of Business Administration from Athabasca University and a Master of Science in Marine Engineering from University College London. Additionally, he has been a licensed Professional Engineer since 2013.

With his wealth of experience and expertise, March is well-positioned to lead Babcock Canada into its next phase of development and success.
