Seeking nominations for Veterans Ombudsman’s Commendation

The Veterans Ombudsman’s office is accepting nominations for the Veterans Ombudsman’s Commendation, awarded to individuals, groups, businesses or associations that have made an outstanding contribution to the well-being of Veterans and their families.

In a recent press release, Guy Parent said: “There are many worthy, dedicated and compassionate Canadians in communities across Canada devoted to helping Veterans of the Canadian Forces and the RCMP and their families. Each year, in consultation with the Veterans Ombudsman’s Advisory Council, I award the Veterans Ombudsman’s Commendation to those individuals or groups who have made an outstanding contribution to the Veterans’ community…Who do you believe deserves to be recognized this year for their selflessness, hard work and dedication to Veterans their families?”

To receive a Commendation, an individual or group must have demonstrated exceptional leadership, advocacy and/or activism on behalf of Veterans and/or their families; made an outstanding contribution in promoting the fair treatment of Veterans and their families, in accordance with the Veterans Bill of Rights; or contributed in bringing about substantive change to address systemic issues and/or identifying the needs and concerns of Veterans and their families.

Nominations are being accepted up until July 15. More information, including nomination forms, is available at www.ombudsman-veterans.gc.ca.
