OSI software to assist Australian navy helicopter operations

OSI Maritime Systems will provide the Royal Australian Navy with its Ship Helicopter Operating Limits (SHOL) software module. The module, which automates a laborious and manual process that is critical to safe helicopter takeoffs and landings, has already been acquired by the Royal New Zealand Navy and OSI expects other customers will procure it in the near future.

The SHOL module will be added to OSI’s ECPINS-W software, already deployed across the RAN fleet of warships. “The application is supported by an Editor Tool that provides operator’s with the ability to generate new SHOL patterns for existing aircraft and for when new aircraft come into service. The tool eliminates the reliance on third parties to generate patterns, giving the operator the ultimate flexibility to maximise the benefits of SHOL,” the company said in a press release.

The deal with Australia comes on the heels of a contract with both navies to provide in-service-support for OSI’s systems and software.
