MDA wins ISS for submarine trainers

MacDonald, Dettwiler and Associates has signed a four-year CA$16 million contract with the Royal Canadian Navy to provide in-service support (ISS) for training and maintenance of the Victoria-class trainers.

The simulators, located at CFB Halifax, train personnel on operating and maintaining the Victoria-class submarines, which have gradually been returning to service.
MDA has been providing the ISS training and maintenance on the trainers since 2009. This latest contract includes options for an additional two years.

“We look forward to continuing our work with the Royal Canadian Navy,” said MDA’s Don Osborne, the vice president responsible for this business. “In-service support and training systems were identified in the Jenkins report as Key Industrial Capabilities for Canada, and MDA, as a Canadian company, is proud to provide this service to DND.”
