When you develop and integrate warship combat systems, a lowly electronics cabinet might not seem worth celebrating.
From a concept design that met extreme environment conditions, the first cabinet was completed in October 2010. Today, the cabinets have over 500 unique parts and are supported by a supply chain of over 45 Canadian companies.
Lockheed Martin Canada MST is providing the Combat Management System (CMS) for the Halifax-class program. The CMS hardware is comprised of multiple electronics cabinets and operator consoles.
The company marked the milestone with a small celebration that was attended by Commodore Marcel Halle and Geoff Simpson, the HCM program director.
With the success of the HCM program, Lockheed Martin Canada has been contracted by the New Zealand government to provide and integrate a new combat management system on its ANZAC Class frigates. More cabinets and consoles will soon be departing Ottawa for that program.
