Jerry McLean Appointed as CEO at Babcock Canada

Babcock Canada, a division of Babcock International Group (Babcock), the defence, security and aerospace company, announced effective November 22nd Jerry McLean will take the place of Mike Whalley who is retiring in December as Chief Executive Officer.  Canada is one of Babcock’s five focus countries. McLean will be reporting directly to the Group CEO and will be responsible for pursuing defence and value-add service opportunities, as well as leading Babcock Canada’s existing Marine and Aviation business.

McLean has extensive experience in the Canadian defence sector, most recently as Managing Director for Thales Canada, Defence and Security. He is a retired Royal Canadian Navy Combat Systems Engineer with 28 years of experience, specializing in complex project management, in-service support, and international cooperation programs, and a graduate of the Collège militaire royal de Saint-Jean in 1985 and the Canadian Forces College in 1997.

In the Marine sector, Babcock teams safely and efficiently support complex and critical assets on a large scale. Since 2008, Babcock Canada delivers key naval in-service support for the Royal Canadian Navy, providing platform design, integration, configuration, management services, maintenance and waterfront support, ensuring complete lifecycle engineering support for Canada’s fleet of Victoria Class submarines.

In the Aviation sector, Babcock has over 1,300 pilots working with air forces, navies and armies to deliver technical instruction across multiple locations and aircraft types. As well as deliver vital aerial emergency services around the world. In Canada, Babcock has been selected by the Government of Manitoba to deliver their vital wildfire suppression services, as well as key components of their critical air ambulance services.
