CAE makes two key defence biz appointments

Ian Bell

CAE announced the appointment of two new executives for its defence and security business unit.

Ian Bell was appointed vice-president and general manager for Asia/Pacific and the Middle East, and Marc-Olivier Sabourin was appointed vice-president and general manager of Europe and Africa.

Bell has been with CAE for more than 10 years.

He previously led the Europe/Middle East/Africa region. In his new role, Bell will be responsible for the general management and operation of CAE’s defence and security business unit in the Middle East and Asia/Pacific.

Bell will be based primarily at CAE’s regional headquarters office in Sydney, Australia.

“Both Ian and Marc-Olivier are proven leaders within CAE who will continue to help make CAE the only truly global company focused on the training and simulation market around the world,” said Gene Colabatistto, CAE’s group president, defence and security business unit. “Our defence customers globally recognize CAE’s training systems integration expertise and experience, and we will continue to focus our offering on helping our defence customers enhance efficiency and readiness.”

Sabourin has been with CAE for more than 21 years. He has held a variety of senior management positions within engineering, program management, and business development.

Most recently, Sabourin was regional operations director and deputy general manager for the Europe region.

In his new role, Sabourin will be responsible for the general management and operation of CAE’s defence and security business unit in Europe and Africa.

He will be based at CAE’s facility in Stolberg, Germany where the CAE has several hundred employees serving the Europe/Africa regions.
