CAE awarded Israeli, UK, NATO contracts

Montreal-based CAE announced contracts this week valued at over C$100 million, including a contract from Elbit Systems to provide M-346 training devices for the Israeli Air Force, multiple contracts from the UK Ministry of Defence to support CAE’s Medium Support Helicopter Aircrew Training Facility, and a contract for maintenance and support services for the NATO E-3A training devices.

The contract from Elbit Systems involves the design and manufacture of segments of a suite of Alenia Aermacchi M-346 simulators to support the Israeli Air Force future trainer aircraft program. The simulators are part of the M-346 ground-based training system. CAE is part of an industrial team that includes Elbit Systems, Alenia Aermacchi and Selex Galileo.

CAE will also provide simulator upgrades and training services for the U.K. MoD at its Medium Support Helicopter Aircrew Training Facility. One contract involves ground school and simulator aircrew training services for the RAF on the Puma HC2 helicopter. CAE is currently upgrading the Puma dynamic mission simulator to the new Puma HC2 configuration. A second contract involves a major upgrade to one of the CH-47 Chinook dynamic mission simulators to the RAF CH-47 Mk4 standard, also known as the JULIUS program.

For NATO, CAE will continue providing a range of maintenance and support services for the NATO E-3A training devices located at NATO Airbase Geilenkirchen in Germany. NATO has been operating the CAE-built E-3A flight deck simulator for more than 30 years and recently delivered its E-3A flight training device.
