BluMetric Lands $7.5M Naval Contract for Shipboard Desalination Systems

Mission-ready water systems are a critical enabler of endurance at sea.

Mission-ready water systems are a critical enabler of endurance at sea.

BluMetric is doubling down on its role in Canada’s naval supply chain, securing a $7.5 million contract that reinforces the growing importance of sovereign, mission-ready support systems in modern shipbuilding.

The Ottawa-based engineering WaterTech and environmental consulting firm will supply multiple Shipboard Reverse Osmosis Desalination (SROD) plants to a leading Canadian shipbuilder—systems designed to ensure reliable freshwater production in demanding maritime environments. The award builds on BluMetric’s long-standing track record of delivering shipboard water solutions tailored for military use.

With more than two decades of experience in Canadian-made shipboard water systems, BluMetric has established itself in a niche that is increasingly critical as fleets expand and operate farther from shore. Its desalination systems are engineered for reliability and operational simplicity—two factors that directly affect mission endurance. By reducing both operator workload and energy consumption, the systems support efficiency without compromising performance.

“This award reaffirms BluMetric’s trusted role as Canada’s premier supplier of Mission Ready Water solutions for military applications,” stated Scott MacFabe, Chair and CEO. “Our technology and capabilities continue to be validated having successfully delivered water solutions under various programs. In a time when sovereignty is becoming top of mind, we are well positioned to support the Canadian shipbuilding industry.”

Production will take place at BluMetric’s WaterTech Canada division in Carp, Ontario, with manufacturing expected to begin in late 2026. The contract not only reflects continued demand for specialized onboard systems, but also signals how critical infrastructure—like water—remains central to operational readiness as Canada’s shipbuilding programs move forward.
