The Arctic Council and Canada’s opportunity

As Canada prepares to assume the Chairmanship of the Arctic Council, the Canadian Defence and Foreign Affairs Institute is asking some tough questions about how “Canada should take advantage of this unique opportunity.”

A series of articles, many of which will appear in the National Post, will be posted throughout the week. Joël Plouffe, a Vanguard contributor and CDFAI Fellow, leads off with a scene-setter on the Arctic Council and what its priorities should be moving forward. Rob Huebert, a Senior Fellow, addresses the ramifications of the militarization of the Arctic.

Additional authors in the series include Whitney Lackenbauer, Natalia Loukacheva and Ron Wallace. The full series will be posted at www.cdfai.org.
