In a move that underscores Arcfield Canada’s continued growth and commitment to operational excellence, the company has appointed Luc Sabourin as Vice President of Canadian Operations on October 15, 2025. Based in Calgary, Sabourin will spearhead Arcfield’s business operations and strategic planning efforts, leading initiatives designed to position the company for long-term success within Canada’s dynamic aerospace and defence landscape.
“We are pleased to welcome Luc to our leadership team in Canada,” said Mark Thompson, president and general manager of Global Defense and Security Solutions at Arcfield. “With over 30 years of experience in the Canadian aerospace and defence industry, coupled with a proven track record of business performance and strategic leadership, Luc will be instrumental in advancing our strategic priorities and leading Arcfield Canada’s operations.”
A Career Defined by Operational Mastery
Sabourin brings a distinguished record of military service and industry leadership to his new role. Prior to joining Arcfield, he served with L3Harris MAS, where he played a pivotal role in standardizing operations between the company’s facilities in Cold Lake, Alberta, and Bagotville, Quebec, supporting the Royal Canadian Air Force’s CF-18 fighter fleet. His ability to bridge technical precision with organizational effectiveness has been a defining feature throughout his career.
Before his tenure at L3Harris, Sabourin was Director of Fleet Management at Top Aces Inc., where he oversaw the technical sustainment of the company’s fixed-wing assets—a role that combined deep engineering knowledge with the strategic oversight needed to support high-performance aircraft operations.
From the Flight Line to the Command Post
Sabourin’s roots are firmly grounded in the Canadian Forces, where he began his career as an aerospace engineer. Over a decorated period of service, he rose through the ranks, assuming leadership positions that shaped his expertise across multiple domains of aviation maintenance, training, and command.
Notably, he served as Commanding Officer of 1 Air Maintenance Squadron (1 AMS) at 4 Wing Cold Lake, overseeing preventive and corrective maintenance of the CF-18 fleet. He later commanded 5 Wing Goose Bay in Newfoundland and Labrador, ensuring the operational readiness of one of the RCAF’s most strategically located bases.
His tenure as Director A4 Maintenance at 1 Canadian Air Division Headquarters in Winnipeg saw him responsible for the standards and management of maintenance operations across the entire RCAF fleet—a role that demanded technical mastery, disciplined leadership, and a forward-looking approach to sustainment and readiness.
Most recently, Sabourin concluded his military service as Commander of the Canadian Forces Recruiting Group, a position that reflected both his operational insight and his ability to inspire the next generation of aerospace professionals.
Engineering Vision Meets Strategic Leadership
Sabourin’s academic foundation complements his operational experience. He holds a Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering from the Royal Military College of Canada and a Master of Science in Aerospace Vehicle Design from Cranfield University in the United Kingdom—credentials that align perfectly with Arcfield’s mission of delivering cutting-edge sustainment solutions to Canada’s aerospace and defence community.
As Arcfield Canada continues to expand its footprint as a trusted partner to the Department of National Defence and allied industries, Sabourin’s leadership is expected to accelerate the company’s growth trajectory, operational alignment, and commitment to innovation.
