Alectra recently hosted Minister of Energy and Electrification Stephen Lecce at their cutting-edge operations center located at 200 Kennedy Road South, Brampton. Minister Lecce was accompanied by Associate Minister of Women’s Social and Economic Opportunity Charmaine A. Williams and Mississauga-Erin Mills MPP Sheref Sabawy. Their visit underscored the government’s dedication to promoting affordable, sustainable energy initiatives.

October 2023 marked the official opening of Alectra’s expansive 200,000 square-foot facility. This consolidated operations center is home to over 400 employees, ensuring exceptional service to the residents of Mississauga and Brampton.

“We are pleased to host Minister Lecce at our new operations centre in Brampton and showcase our commitment to sustainability and innovation,” said Brian Bentz, President and CEO, Alectra Inc. “This facility represents a significant investment in reducing our carbon footprint and enhancing service levels for our community.”

The building proudly holds a LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Gold certification, adding to Alectra’s impressive portfolio of eco-friendly buildings. Alongside their LEED Gold-certified facilities in Vaughan and Markham, and other LEED-certified locations in Guelph and Barrie, this new center exemplifies Alectra’s commitment to environmental stewardship.

“Our government is focused on ensuring electricity is reliable and affordable for families across Ontario.” said Stephen Lecce, Minister of Energy and Electrification. “The tour of Ontario’s first EV truck reaffirms our commitment to electrifying the economy so that we can reduce emissions, while supporting economic growth and job creation for our workers and families”.

Key sustainable features of the new facility include:

– Enhanced dedicated outdoor air systems (DOAS), which reduce greenhouse gas emissions by approximately 43% beyond standard LEED Gold requirements.

– A 500KW rooftop solar power system, generating over 800 MWh/year of renewable energy to support the building’s power needs.

– More than 30 electric vehicle charging stations, available for use by Alectra fleet vehicles, employees, and the general public.
