Canada continues to push the boundaries of technology to better our work environments, quality of life, and economic strength. As the global arena intensifies in the quest to harness Artificial Intelligence (AI), the Canadian government is actively investing in Atlantic Canadian innovators to ensure they lead the charge in their fields through the power of AI.

“AI is a real game-changer for Atlantic businesses—it can help people get more work done, faster and is going to bring great jobs into our communities. Companies like Bluedrop are leading the charge in AI innovation to make sure that our region stays ahead,” commented the Honourable Gudie Hutchings, Minister of Rural Economic Development and Minister responsible for ACOA.

On July 17, 2024, the Honourable Lena Metlege Diab, MP for Halifax West, revealed a significant investment of $448,950 in Bluedrop Training & Simulation Inc. (Bluedrop). This funding is directed towards incorporating generative AI into Bluedrop’s training modules, aimed at enriching the learning experience with advanced instructional content, dynamic course materials, and tailored assessments. The announcement was made on behalf of Honourable Gudie Hutchings, Minister of Rural Economic Development and Minister responsible for ACOA.

“From aerospace to defence, Atlantic Canada has established itself as a hub of innovation. Companies like Bluedrop are pushing us forward by offering advanced training and simulation solutions to first responders, defence forces, energy producers, and more. By embracing the potential of AI, they’re going to build upon the momentum we’re seeing in Nova Scotia and help create good jobs and a stronger economy,” said the Honourable Lena Metlege Diab, Member of Parliament for Halifax West.

This repayable grant will empower Bluedrop to harness AI for more responsive and individualized simulations, adapting to trainees’ needs in real-time and enhancing both the learning and teaching experience. With these upgrades, Bluedrop is set to improve mission training while ensuring they remain competitive, efficiently accessing new markets, and safeguarding data integrity.

“ACOA funding is helping Bluedrop transform the training paradigm and improve the training experience by introducing AI-driven instructors and instructions. It will also help accelerate developments by improving the tools supported by AI, while adding non-symmetrical training methods to adapt to specific trainee needs,” expressed Jean-Claude Siew, Executive Vice President, Technology and Simulation at Bluedrop Training & Simulation Inc.

This announcement underscores the Canadian government’s dedication to fostering economic progress through cutting-edge technological innovation.
